Spiral fracture of the humerus

spiral fracture of the humerus

Finding myself heading for A&E as I sustained a very serious injury – a spiral fracture of the humerus in my arm, along with a broken bone in my shoulder and numerous very livid bruises all over my body. My first thought was “I need to see Steve as soon as possible” however, back home and a visit to hospital here confirmed I would be in a body brace for the foreseeable future. Three months on and the body brace was replaced with a removable sling with a reassurance from the consultant that I could at last seek remedial therapy. Unsure as to whether Steve could actually do anything for me, I got in touch and made an appointment. An arm that had been restrained in one position 24/7 was not going to move easily but Steve took on the challenge. With his amazing Sigma Q technology he set to work. Now I am totally ignorant as to the ins and outs of how or why this form of therapy works, I only know from past experience that it does – like a miracle. Apparently, Steve told me, I was suffering with Neuropraxia and it was making my movements very restrictive. Steve set to work on locating the affected area and after an hour of treatment he invited me to stand up and raise my arm as far as I could. Unbelievably, I could raise my arm above my head. It was as if someone had unlocked a door inside my arm. Three days on and my arm is still mobile and pain free. I had been warned by the hospital to expect many months of discomfort and recovery; I can’t wait for my next consultant appointment to show her how wrong she was – my recovery time has been halved thanks to Steve and Sigma Q.

  Ivan’s Ankle

Folks , Muscle memory is very real . A man that suffered chronic injury which was life changing and with a combination of trauma ,here is Ivan’s account of that left ankle . Slowly but surely he is on the way back to full fitness and ability

Earlier this year I was enjoying a new found freedom of movement thanks to Steve Kirby’s comprehensive Physio and massage together with Bio Nero ,Sigma Q treatment. Bio Neuro had previously found an old mid 80’s Back injury from hauling a boat out of the water. The Bio Neuro complimented by Ultrasound had helped repair the nervous stem on the Right side of my lower back improving my ability to walk and hopefully return to competitive sailing.
Back in the Winter/Early Spring period a Storm brought down a large tree necessitating assistance from myself. ‘Just can’t stay away from these jobs’ Net result was my ankle and left leg started to become painful at times with horribly reduced movement. Initial Bio Neuro, Sigma Q investigation revealed that it was hard to get the necessary signal penetration in an area around the ankle. The fact was that some 30years earlier I had turned my ankle over badly and just walked it better over a period of weeks. This had caught up with me. Once again the combination of Bio Neuro ,sigma Q and Ultrasound is proving to get me mobile again.

Shoulder Trauma in Norwich Norfolk

Shoulder Trauma Symposium

During Lock down lot’s of events were held online rather than physically and I felt it was better to use the time wisely and continue studying, I believe we all need to keep on moving forward and gaining knowledge to help our patients and keep up to date with what is happening.

To that end I have been in the happy position as a member, to be able to attend quite a few of The Royal Society of Medicine’s on line events, these give me invaluable access to learn from the best, to listen to some great speakers on some brilliant topics.

Under normal circumstances it would be a trip into London and a stay overnight , but this way it has meant I can enjoy the event, get to ask questions and have plenty of time to study the subject, a win, win situation.

Shoulder Trauma Symposium

The  event was on Shoulder Trauma

The Shoulder is where the humerus (upper arm bone) meets the scapula (shoulder blade) It is a shallow joint to allow more flexibility of movement, but it also means it can be more prone to injury and dislocation along with nerve entrapment. This is a  joint injury that can be ,especially, devastating and totally debilitating, it can easily cause distribution to other structural and biological functions around it .

This is a  major area that  I have  found deeply interesting,  the discussions revolved around  non operative reconstruction ,the need to give a good prospective evaluation of the  trauma pathology. Examining how Neurovascular Injuries and Muscle Paralysis, can be treated with constructive intervention  to aid the quality of life for the patient .

These are two of the major areas, that are of interest to me.

Neurovascular Injuries

Neurovascular Injuries are damage to major blood vessels in the body with  further complications, with the injury being the  loss of sensation, tingling or pins and needles,  being apparent to the patient .

Muscle Paralysis

Muscle Paralysis in simple terms means a loss of control and strength ability ,this  causes the nerve communication ability from the Spinal Column to be  compromised , there are four types of paralysis.

The Shoulder joint holds four major nerves ,  the origin of all these nerves originate from the Cervical Vertebrae C5-C7 .they are the:

Motor Neurons and Neuropeptides  carry nerve messages to help innervate muscles to work correctly, any injury or trauma will impair this function .

Shoulder Trauma in Norwich

Treating patients with Bioneuro Sigma Q technology , can help restore function, the technology works  with a variable pulse through the muscles, fascia, thus enabling it  to interact with the nerve pathways, and neuromuscular junctions. .

I have found that the Bioneuro Sigma Q combined with  ,Neuromuscular Manipulation techniques,  Correct Rehabilitation and Recovery  Exercises, when appropriate, to help the patient to  achieved  Full  Pain Free movement,  can work quicker than other interventions, that I have used in the past and I have tried various interventions,  along with massage over the past 30 years of my being a Therapist.

My goal for my patients is for me  to be able,  to reduce their need for pain killer medication to zero, to restore good health and quality of life  back to my patients, to help them Be The Best They Can Be and I will continue to do so.

Diary of a Poorly Knee

Diary of a Poorly Knee

2018

Tonight I had my first session on Steve’s box of tricks. Getting wired up with the pads around my knee and a couple on my back treatment started… Slowly winding up the intensity to the pads my muscles started twinging and the pain relief started. Steve explained what my knee had gone thru and we started to plan a course of treatment. At the of the first session I could take my weight on my knee with only a small amount of pain.

Again doing the manly thing I got back to running my business and my social life… Doing a few long drives the knee soon started playing up again. Steve was on hand again to administer pain relief and advise on how we should move forward.

Steve Says

I attended a pre arranged location this afternoon .Saturday 24/2/2018 to treat Martyn who presented with a chronic knee pathology . Following a full knee examination my hyperthesis (Clinical Opinion ) is Martyn has sustained a Popliteus trauma which has affected the stability of his knee.

Steve was on hand again tonight for my next session on is box of tricks. Having my own pads now meant treatment was underway quickly tonight. Once again Steve cranked up the intensity and my muscles were soon dancing away on their own accord. As there was no pressure being applied pain relief was almost instant.

Steve Says

My patient was unable to weight bear fully I applied the Biosysco Bioneuro Therapy system sending sigma Q electrical frequency deeply into the knee . Aiding Motor Neuron and Neuropeptide transmission to the area plus chemical changes in the patella plexus . Following treatment ,Martyn was able to weight bear . A MRI scan needs to be arranged to fully ascertain the exact cause of the pathology . Bioneuro treatment will be continuing to aid full recovery.

Today was a bad day not having Steve a few now… so off to the doctors I go… and from there straight to A&E.

The Bioneuro system sends frequency deeply into the body . Helping , motivation ,stimulation and acceleration of chemical changes in the human body accelerating injury recovery. Effusion/swelling and pain was very apparent when your injury occurred now you can walk unaided and pain free !.

Today’s session has given me the most movement and the least amount of pain in weeks. Pretty much walking with out a limp tonight. Concentrating on the back of my knee this time the feeling of a rolled up sock has completely gone now. Still cant believe the difference an hour can make on the system Steve uses.

It never rains .. .but it snows

We worked on Martyn’s Popliteus muscle . Known as the key to the knee ,very important in walking . Activated from nerve supply in the lower back ,helps look after the inner workings of the knee such as the meniscus .

A right pain the in the neck

Neck Pain Massage Pain Relief

One Friday night recently , I was called to treat Martyn from COGmedia. Who said he was suffering from a excessive stiff neck, painful upper back following a week of extremely hard computer work, looking after web sites .

Following a full assessment I saw all the signs  and symptoms of SPASMODIC TORTICOLLIS . His pain and discomfort were immense.

Applying the Bioneuro Therapy System we started to relieve pain ,improve blood flow aid nerve and endorphin supply whilst massaging  and manipulating the deep muscles of his upper back the  Trapezius, Rhomboids . Neck muscles  being the Sternocleidomastoids ,Scalenes  and the  Splenius Capitis and Splenius Cervicis.

Having not slept well for a number of days ,seeing Martyn being able to relax was great .

Now having treated Martyn twice ,using Bioneuro to work deeply through  the bodies fascia to the depths of his body. While massaging  and using neuromuscular techniques ,seeing his  pain -free movement restored, with ability to sleep well  I know my job is completed.

Runners need to make sure their feet are in good condition some basic advice may help.

Runners need to make sure their feet are in good condition

First tip. Your feet these are the things that are going to be carrying you through this, so they need to be looked after, keep them clean make sure that your toenails are trimmed.
Make sure your trainers fit well and are comfortable a few runners say it is best to try new trainers on later in the day when your feet are hot, this is your call but always make sure you only wear them on short runs to begin with, you do not want to be wearing new trainers on the day of a big run, they need to be already be worn in, or you may get blisters on the day ,but we don’t need to encourage them.
What about the socks ? make sure you turn them inside out and check for loose threads before the day of a big run, make sure they fit comfortably don’t have them to tight, socks can do a lot of damage if they cut into you.

Now the exercises for the feet while sitting in a chair. You need a tennis ball put it under the arch of the foot and roll it down to the ball of the foot then up to the heel this will help to stretch those muscle in that area you also need to grip the toes in and out a few times a day again to stretch muscles in the foot, also again while sitting a form calf raises this will help the Achilles tendon.

Plantar Fasciitis , Plantar Fasciosis or Capsulitis

You also need to pamper your feet, massage between the toes around the toenails under the toes, you can get cracks in the skin there and don’t forget the ankle ( always massage towards the ankle then up towards the lower leg with firm but gentle pressure you can always use a bit of olive oil ) look after them tootsies now and they will do you proud on the day.

Jon’s Shoulder Injury, His Recovery Helped By Getfitstayfit Norfolk

Problems with the neck that transferred to the trapezium down through the shoulder to the arms. As I always say all muscles pull and if you have a tight muscle in the upper part of the body it will affect other areas, this was the case for Peter, the same affect as leaning over the computer at work all day, here is his testimony after being treated by Steve.

Jon came to us in a rather bad way he was Exhausted.

My symptoms appeared back in May.  I had excruciating  pain in my shoulder and pins and needles in my fingers which was so bad that I couldn’t sleep.

I sought  further medical advice and was pumped with drugs; Tramadol, Diazepam, etc, but the problem was not getting any better. I am not normally the sort of person that takes even a headache tablet.

After seeing Steve and being treated with Bioneuro Dry Therapy Sigma Q(∑Q)® along with Neuromuscular Injury Therapy , I was amazed at how much the pain had been relived. after 5 sessions it started to ease over a 4 week period.

I still had to work so could only see him once a week, we were very busy at work and unfortunately just when I thought I was getting on top of things, due to  the very strenuous work I do, I must have pulled  or aggravated it again but this time making it much worse.

I sought  further medical advice and was pumped with drugs; Tramadol, Diazepam, etc, but the problem was not getting any better.

I decided I needed to see  Steve again as well as taking the medicine, I will say I was a bit embarrassed about having to go back to him so soon after he had sorted me out and knew he would know I had over done things

After a couple of treatments  and plenty of persistence with calls of concern every day for my welfare.

Steve eventually detected the spots on my shoulder and arm that have been triggering the pain, trapped nerves causing the  pins and needles etc.

After receiving more Bioneuro therapy on my arm, it has significantly improved and the pain has eased.

I eventually had an x-ray (as ordered by my doctor) but still await the results. I cannot recommend Steve highly enough for his true concern and caring of peoples’ health, how many doctors or dentists ,call you after any treatment to ask how you are feeling?

Steve checked every day to further ‘pin’ my main points of pain.

A first class job in the future:  I hope to receive a scan one day to see what long-term damage I have, if any and to see how I can work around ensuring I do not encounter this problem again.

Yours sincerely

JON

Cyclist Injury, Recovery Helped By Getfitstayfit Norfolk

Guyon’s Tunnel Syndrome. Is a common nerve compression affecting the Ulnar nerve as it passes through a tunnel in the wrist called Guyon’s canal It is a similar problem to Carpal tunnel syndrome, but involves a completely different nerve. With Guyon’s tunnel syndrome you will get a feeling of pins and needles in the ring and little fingers, this may also progress to a burning sensation or pain in the wrist and hand it may then be followed by decreased sensation in the ring and little fingers. I reckon a few avid cyclists are going to recognize this symptom as one common cause of this syndrome is from pressure of bicycle handlebars.

My name is Steve; I am 37. As a kid, I was a keen cyclist but life got in the way of that and I didn’t pedal for years.

On moving to Norwich 18 months or so ago, I had decided to make sure that I got back on top of my running and cycling and set myself some goals to achieve.

Unfortunately, one day on the bike I came off it, landing on my side fairly heavily.

For a couple of weeks, I didn’t feel much other than my ribs being sore from the impact. However, after that I was in real trouble. For some time, I was unable to move freely without spasms in my lower torso which were enough to bring me to my knees.

I sought treatment from various sources which provided temporary relief but the pain always returned.

A sedentary office job and walking large dogs that pull on the lead only served to reinforce the rot.  And cycling doesn’t exactly help back pain

On yet another flare-up, Steve was recommended to me. I liked Steve’s ethos of just wanting to get people fixed as quickly as possible and, true to his word, after a mere three sessions with the Bioneuro Sigma Q Therapy System and the improvement is remarkable. I can move more freely day-to-day; I can ride the bike hard;

I can even touch my toes! The pain is gone and the mobility has returned.

I can’t recommend the treatment enough.
